The story so far…
Meeting up for a Christmas lunch back with a fellow traveller back in December made me realise that 2016 hadn’t been a very adventurous travel year for me – I’d been to the usual places – Portugal, Berlin, Luxembourg and I’d even made it Madrid but I hadn’t been anywhere new or done anything exciting so I decided to set myself a challenge for 2017.
So, here it is! To celebrate my 53rd birthday (an otherwise fairly dull birthday!) I have challenged myself to visit 53 islands before my 54th birthday AND write about them in this blog (which is the tricky bit!). I’m going to have a go at taking some photos too! (Thanks Dad for the beautiful new camera!)
Because of budget constraints, the islands will all be fairly close to home – to begin with at least – although we never know what will happen as the year goes on. I will do my best to show you some beautiful islands and attempt to give you the flavour of each one – I hope you will enjoy reading about them as much as I will enjoy myself visiting them.
